Five marine protected areas in Palawan and Oriental Mindoro adopted

Five (5) marine protected areas (MPAs) were recently adopted by UC38 LLC to enhance management and protection of multi-awarded MPAs in Coron, Linapacan (Palawan) and Bulalacao (Oriental Mindoro).

The adopted MPAs are Bulalacao, Coron (Palawan); Marcilla, Coron (Palawan); Pical, Linapacan (Palawan); San Miguel, Linapacan (Palawan) and; Maasin, Bulalacao (Oriental Mindoro), all of which have been recognized among the best-managed in north Palawan and the province of Oriental Mindoro.

The adoption will augment much-needed support to volunteer bantay dagats (sea rangers), patrolling, logistics and MPA boundaries and markers maintenance.  Exemplary bantay dagats are likewise provided with special prize to recognize and honor their consistent commitment and hardwork.
